Morratico
This project on an antique home in Morratico, Virginia was quite a challenge. The house, built in the early 1800s had a small front porch with an off center entrance. We removed the existing porch, built a wraparound with 2nd story portico including traditional, hand seamed, metal roof. We then centered the entranceway and installed a priceless antiquity in the opening. This door was originally a Victorian, 4 panel, interior pocket door of mahogany. It was made in Europe in the 19th century with 3/4 glass, etched with an ocean front scene that flows across the four panels. The real challenge came in reworking the door from it's original state to a double operating, exterior door with two side lights. We finished the house out with state of the art siding from Wolverine Technologies, designed to be as traditional as vinyl gets, right down to the Victorian scallops in the gables. The customers were going to do the paint themselves so it may still have a bit of an unfinished look. More photos coming soon. A very enjoyable project.
Stratford Harbor This residence in Montross, Virginia is a contemporary, stone cape with white aluminum and gray vinyl accents. Sitting on Lake Independence in prestigious Stratford Harbor, this home makes quite a statement. A large, blue-gray fieldstone was used along with Heritage Dover gray vinyl. The interior work is a reddish-brown fieldstone that really sets off the oak floors and trim.
