Waterjet stone fabrication is an amazing technology that produces art with stone. The designs they are able to cut are absolutely beautiful. Stone floors, architectural molding, monuments, signs, displays and works of art come out of their facility in Iowa. Check it out. Very impressive. Are you still using Southern Yellow Pine 2x10 for floor joists? Not if you've seen the benefits of GP I Joists. 2xs with 1/2" plywood for headers are a thing of the past too with 1 3/4" LVLs available. They're not just for girders anymore. Georgia Pacific is number one when it comes to engineered wood products. Elk manufactures the highest quality asphalt roof shingles on the market. They are the most durable and attractive that I have come across. Their Capstone actually looks like slate! They also offer a stain guard to protect the beauty of the product. Elk's site is very tastefully done and easy to navigate. Visit them if you're in need of roofing. Andersen Windows & Patio Doors I know, so what else is new? These guys have been leading the pack since the dawn of time but what have they done for us lately. Plenty. The 400 series is a beautiful, top of the line window with tons of options including Finelight (gbg or grill between glass). The new Builder Select is a high quality, low priced line, designed for large volume builders. Their Frenchwood patio doors have no equal with the patented 3 point locking system and weather resistant sill. The 8/0 doors are the most impressive patio entry I've ever seen in the field. They have Prairie style interior wood grills, Art Glass including the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection, wonderful hardware upgrades, and the cladding is now available in a new color, a pretty Hunter Green. One last thing, some other companies have some pretty amazing windows as well but one thing they don't have is Andersen's customer service. Can you tell I really like these folks? They have been an innovator for years with products such as vinyl cypress shakes and Victorian scallops. Don't let the look of the raw material fool you. At first glance you might say this stuff is rough and ragged but once it is installed it makes for an attractive, highly durable deck. The product itself is made of recycled plastic and I believe they actually accept plastic waste from the general public. Not only a successful business but a recycling center as well. This deck board is well worth the price. Kudos. Paslode has no rival when it comes to gas cartridge fired, cordless nail guns. The framing and trim nailers are light weight, dependable and convenient. Their fasteners are heavy duty and affordable. "CDM" is one of the leading manufacturers of poly styrene trim and cornice. Pediments, pilasters, crossheads, and crown are just a few of the products they have available. Weather resistant, low maintenance, and reasonably priced. Stay tuned. More product reviews to come. |
